Some Winter Boho Romance

I'm just doing some winter boho layers over here, being a weirdo in the woods I guess.  I haven't worn this coat very much this winter so I wanted to break away from my drapey coat and give this one a little attention.  I liked it paired with the handkerchief hem on this skirt and I felt like the straight lines of the coat worked in this case because of the lines of the shawl.  There's a lot of print going on but I feel it works because the prints are similar in scale and colors.  I wore my felted wool boots again, they're super warm and I like the rustic feeling they give when paired with an embroidered coat and lots of layers.

This use to be my favorite dress for years and then for two years I hardly wore it at all.  I tried it again this fall with some of my new coats and liked how the coats gave it a fresh new spin style wise but I'm totally stoked to see how pairing it with my tall boots and lace up boots really takes the styling up a notch.  I'd really only worn it with sandals and ankle boots before and pairing it with the newer boots and coats really made me excited to wear this dress all over again - I think that's kind of cool how something older in your closet can feel new and exciting again with the addition of more "on trend" items.

This dress and the bag are both older items as well but I hadn't worn my tall, lace up boots with the lace dress before and again, it's exciting to see something with a new take when pairing it with a newer item like an embroidered coat. The fake fur hat was fun as well and took the outfit in a different direction than my typical embroidered pompom hat or a wide brimmed hat would of.

This skirt is another item I haven't worn in a long time but hadn't gotten around to donating - mostly because I knew I still liked the skirt, I was just going through a style phase where I didn't want to wear it. I paired it with a softer blouse and the embroidered coat, lace up boots and a hooded scarf for some "winter romance" vibes and I'm pretty pleased with it. I feel like it winterized really well and now I'm going to have to try it with some of my other boots and newer coats!

This was for the Dark Romance style challange on Instagram under the hashtag #darkstylecoven and I love the outfit. I layer this dress quite a bit because I love the volume of the skirt and layer of the layers but I hadn't tried this skirt under it yet. The darpey coat returned because I felt the aysmmetetical here works well with bigger skirts and I had to wear my red cloak because's a red cloak.

The Free People dress again, this time with a coat I wore it with this fall but my regular tall boots. I don't know why I had never thought to pair tall boots with it before, I like the lines of the dress better with tall boots and feel like most ankle boots look awkward but that might also be because the silhoutte of ankle boots feel a little boring and slightly dated now? Tall boots have been a pretty serious trend on all of the runway shows and the tall boots/midi dress 70s thing has been going pretty serious for a while so that's probably causeing the shift in how I veiw this dress.

Not a lot to say, just trying to wear things that have been sitting at the back of the closet and trying new things out.
