Like I said, I'm trying some new things pant wise. I'd hemmed these a while back and wore them but since then I've been having trouble styling them - not because of the silhouette but the color! I don't know while blue jeans are so hard for me but they are, too light a top and it looks "off." I played around with them a little lately and realized that I do like high contrast looks with the blue so that seems to have helped me break out of that mind set a bit.

I really liked how this belt worked with the boot accessories but the belt kept coming unattached and falling off so it wasn't a huge win comfort wise. I really like this dress but do not wear it often due to the super low neckline. The embroidery is the biggest draw for me so I turned the dress around to show off the back embroidery and tada, I like it way more with a low back!

I've been watching for a good pair of older Ariats for the longest time! I'd worn my last pair for over 20 years of almost daily, hard wear at barns and after many, man repairs, they finally gave up the ghost. I'd tried to replace them a few years ago but ordered and reordered three pairs of Ariats before giving up in disgust. Ariat was a really solid brand for riding boots for the longest time but I was extremely disappointed by the poor quality of the more recent boots. I am not alone, every rider I know has moved away from using new Ariats because of the poor leather quality, terrible zippers and sole that fall apart swiftly. I understand that it's not profitable to only sell a pair of boots once every 20 years to a rider but damn, my cobbler won't even repair new Ariats now because they aren't worth the money. I wear Dublins now as my riding boots and while they are not as nice as old school Araits, I've been pleased enough. That said, I love older Ariats and always watch for them second hand but haven't had much luck because every other rider does the same! My husband found these last week at VV and uuugh, they are so beautiful and nice. They are just big enough I can wear my really thick wool socks and the sole has enough traction so they are not death traps on the snow like my tall riding boots are.

These photos are from last month - I really liked my outfit but man, my hair and watery eyes killed the photos. It was cold, dry and my hair went limp and static and just in general awful and them my eyes wouldn't stop watering. To boot, I'd forgotten my hat and just had a spare hat in the car that looks pretty dorky and too small and THEN a guy showed up while I was taking pictures and kept talking at me through the whole thing. (Thus, my face. I'm talkative and usually outgoing but it was one of those uncomfortable encounters and I packed up pretty quickly.)

I love this scarf - I bought it from Old Navy earlier this year because of the print but it's proven to be a staple in my wardrobe this winter. Most of my winter coats are black so I like the navy, white and burgundy to help brighten things up a bit.

I'm pretty fricken proud of myself. Almost two years and I still haven't lost them! (Not for long anyways...) This is a new ground for me because I've always broken my glasses before, I think two weeks was impressive, never mind two years without breaking or losing them. I am really careful to put them back into their case however and keep a good eye on them so I suppose that makes the difference - caring for your stuff, who knew?!
In real life, this top and skirt are actually the exact same shade of orange but photographed with a big difference. I don't know if that's due to how the light shines of the materials - poly vs silk - but it looked pretty great in my option. It's been warm enough that I can wear some of my jacket rather than the bigger coat so yay for more wardrobe options and getting some wear out of this jacket.
The kids started up ski club at school this past month so the warm weather has been pleasant for that as well - I help hand out equipment so it's nice not to have to wear ten different layers and it's been fun for all the kids to play in the snow and get to go out during recess. (The cut off for outside recess at our school -20F and we've been around -35F for the past several weeks. Ugh, ready for spring!)

My husband and I's 11th anniversary was last week so we went out for a fancy lunch - FireWok! (If you live in the Fairbanks/North Pole area, FireWok beats the pants off Pagoda. I know, fighting words but so true.) It'd warmed up so I was able to wear these boots again, they're just not quite big enough to wear wool socks with.
