A Warm Breeze

AEO Hat and Dress / Isabel Marant Sandals (ebay) / Target Bag / Celine Silk Scarf (thrifted)

Late Summer In The Flatlands

UO Hat / Helmut Lang Jacket (consignment) / James Perse Dress as Top (consignment) / Skirt (thrifted) / Free People Bag (ebay) / Vera Wang Leather moto Boots (consignment)
My birthday was at the start of the month and rather than presents, I was able to go to a consignment shop in Anchorage to pick out a few things.  Plain Jane which I visited last time and really liked was closed so I stopped by Second Run near the 5th Ave Mall and while I didn't like it quite as much as Plain Jane ( I felt prices were a bit higher but a nice selection and the sales were decent) and ended up with four things - this Helmut Lang Jacket which is gorgeous, these Vera Wang leather moto boots which are my favorite boot now, this James Perse dress (worn as a top here) and a Rebecca Taylor maxi.   Fairbanks does not really have a consignment shop right now, Fireweed closed their consignment section and turned into a "meh" boutique shop so shopping in Fairbanks is pretty slim right now and it's a treat to visit the ones in Anchorage.  (I got to feel up so many nice clothes there!)
This skirt was a thrifting find, it's wool and I think Purivan Connection (but I forgot and didn't check the label) and the pattern is just stellar. This brand's clothes seem to run huge however, every time I've tried on items from them they've been very, very large - this skirt is a medium and I had to slim it down almost 10 inches to make it stay up - with 39 hips I'm a little surprised to be sized out of a medium!  I do love the style, the length, the pattern and the material, it's going to be wonderful for the cold winters.

Around The Corner

UO Hat / Old Navy Linen Tank (old) / AEO Shorts / Free People Bag (ebay) / Rag and Bone Boots (ebay)

I haven't worn these shorts a huge amount this summer, I bought them back in April when it was still miserable outside and now they are a few sizes too big on me.  Not an awful problem to have but my alterations pile needs tackling.
It's a blogger cliché to talk about how busy life is but man, it's been a busy month.  (In a good way!) It is a little startling to stop and realize that July is over, the kids start school in two week-ish and *shudder* winter is lurking right around the corner.  Fairbanks has the nicest summers in Alaska with temps usually way up in the 80s but it is SO short - the end of May our snow is usually gone and it's warm but it was a cold spring for us and we've really only had two months of summer so far, it's not uncommon to get snow in the first weeks of September and once that happens, it's a cold fest.  (I know, I always get glum around this time of year but....2-3 months of summer and then wham, winter - it's not enough time!)

Beach Blow Out

My first ever foot selfie. *sniff* It's like I graduated a level in bloggerdom... (Way behind the pack..)

Free People Hat
Old Navy Linen Top (old)
AEO Shorts
Party Birks
Anthropologie Bag (birthday gift)
Another boring beach outfit from the start of july but hey, I'm trying to be good about taking pictures of what I actually wear everyday.  We go to both the beach and the library quite a bit during the summers, mostly because it's free fun. (The movie theater does play older movies for $1 on Thus and Weds but we are normally at work on those mornings.)  We're quite lucky to have two really nice beaches in the Fairbanks/North Pole area and it's hard to beat an afternoon of playing in the warm water - as warm as a lake in Alaska can get!

Down A Long Road

Fred Meyer Wrap (older) / UO Hat / AEO Dress / Trouve Belt (consignment) / Rag and Bone Boots

This past week we drove from Fairbanks down to Paxson (a tiny community of 40 along the hwy between Fairbanks and Valdez) and took the Denali Hwy across to Cantwell and down the Parks Hwy to Anchorage.  We camped out on the Denali Hwy the first night - the Denali is a 136 miles road which is only paved for the last 20 miles on the Paxson side, it's dirt after that - and then camped the second night on he bank of the Big Susitna River a few miles outside of Talkeetna.  Izzy's birthday was a few day ago along with her grandpa and great-grandmas so we wee able to celebrate everyone's birthday in Anchorage with family.   We were fortunate enough to have beautiful weather the entire time and had great fun.
