20x21 Day 5

Fred Meyer Scarf / Wool Cape Coat (thrifted) / Coach Leather Bag (consignment)

Helmut Lang Coat (consignment)
Free People Sweater (ebay)
Rag and Bone Jeans (thrifted)
Seychelles Boots
I'm really happy stuff like outwear wasn't included in the mini capsule - the temps can go up and down so much in Alaska that you might be fine with a light wool coat one day and then the next morning you wake up and it's -15f and you need a heavier coat. This wool cape coat I thrifted quite a while back and it's SUCH a beautifully made coat, the cut is just so well done. It's quite warm and so voluminous that I can layer up pretty easily. However, this is capsule wardrobe challenge so I'm going to try to only use 3 different coat and just a few bags. I felt like 3 coats was really the smallest I could pare it down to, the aforementioned temp changes mean I need to dress for the weather. And at the end of the day, that's what a capsule wardrobe is suppose to be able, dressing for your life and cutting out the impractical.

I felt really good about this outfit, this sweater is one of my favorites. I saw it some months ago and it was just the perfect drapey cut. I looked around and tried to find a sweater I liked more but nothing had the right cut, material or look. I found this one ebay for quite a bit less than the retail price and so far it's proven to be the perfect sweater for me.

  1. Katie, those mittens are so cute! Are they argyle AND shearling? Who made them?
