Pull of the Current

Free People Jacket (consignment)
Shirt (thrifted - no label)
Seven For All Mankind Jeans (consignment)
Free People Clogs (ebay) and Bag (christmas gift)

Look who finally did a real job heming these pants! Yeah, it looks quite a bit better than my last attempt, I can wear something other than a six inch heel with them now. (And even then they were too long, short people problems) I really love wearing these clogs with jeans, for some reason I feel like they look odd with dresses but totally okay with jeans - I'm pretty sure it's just my own personal hangup about that. I am happy that I did get around to hemming these, the not-having-to-wear-huge-heels makes the jeans a little more practical now.
I was given a ton of rhubarb yesterday as well so I'm working on making freezer jam today - it's pretty simple stuff and rather than use pectin, I use orange peels and it's just killer tasting.  I wish we'd gotten more blueberries this year, we've eaten through ours already and I just froze most of them to put in cobblers and pancakes.  Ugh, there's never enough!

Rolling Along

Wool Hat
Urban Outfitters Cardigan (thrifted)
Free People Dress
Spell Designs Bag (ebay)
Rag and Bone "Harrow" Boots (ebay)

My Grandma came up this weekend from Soldotna and it was really wonderful to see her again! It was a rough drive up with the storm but she made it okay - she's a pretty tough lady and everyone was really happy to spend some time with her. She's been really getting into the adult coloring books because her hands hurt too much to knit anymore and she likes to do creative things.  She passed out pages to everyone that she's already filled in and the pictures are so beautiful, they look like works of art and I'm going to frame up ours and hang them.  There's a few Fairbanks artists who put together coloring books so I know what I'll get Grandma for Christmas now!
Most of my siblings  gathered at my parents house most of Saturday to visit with her and have a bbq. (We really don't stop bbq-ing until it hits about zero and even in the middle of winter, if it warms up to -20 below zero, we lit it back up again. Alaskans' perceptions of bbq weather is as long as there's not a blizzard or a rain storm, we bbq.) She's heading back today and we'll miss her so much until we see her again.

Is It Really A Blog Meet Up If There's No Photos?

Free People Hat
AEO Poncho
Aero Tee
Rag and Bone Leather Pants (ebay)
Anthropologie Bag (birthday gift)
Report Leather Boots (thrifted)

Much like "is a Subaru a Subaru is it's not plastered in bumper stickers" is a blog meet up really a blog meet up if there's no photos?  (and I mean that, why are subareas always covered in bummer stickers?  It's always a shock to see one that's not, you assume it's brand new and the owner forgot to bring their box of stickers to the car lot.)
Today was my very first blog meet up with the lovely Louisa of La Passion Voutée, another local Fairbanks blogger.  Alaska doesn't have a ton of other style bloggers and I haven't managed to meet up with anyone else on my trips to Anchorage so I was excited but really nervous at the same time. I was a little worried I'd be awkward and make a total fool out of myself but we'd been texting back and forth for a little while and by the time I met her, I felt like I'd known her for a while!  She is just as awesome and smart as she comes across on her blog and I had SO much fun! It's really odd to be able to talk to someone else about this blogging thing (because people in rl just look at you when you try to explain about blog stuff) but I had such a blast and the time passed by so quickly. She is seriously such a sweet person and I hope we meet up again soon, she's one of those really well rounded people who has so many interests and is so smart and funny that you can't help but get caught up in the conversation.  (And I'm really sorry for sounding so dorky Louisa, but I had so much fun meeting you, you are a sweetheart!)

I feel lie I need to add in that these photos are from earlier in the week, today the skies opened and Fairbanks got a good three inches of snow in the morning!  (Apparently everyone forgot how to drive on snow. It's not like we get that stuff every year or anything.)

All Of The Fun

Forever21 Hat
Gap Coat (thrifted)
Free People Dress
H&M Belt (consignment)
Michael Kors Suede Boots (consignment)
Bag (thrifted)

I really like how a big jacket looks over a delicate maxi dresses and now that the cold temps are rolling in, I've been pairing the two. This Gap jacket is one I bought last winter and I wore it quite a bit, it's very warm! This dress is ridiculously thin and I need a slip to keep it decent but until the cold hits, I'm going to try to get as much wear out of my dresses as possible.

Were working on car repairs today so I don't really have much to say, the rear hub went out thanks to our very rough road (two in one year is a little crazy!) and unfortunately, the rear hub is way more of a pain than the front. The front on the Vic just pops right out and takes maybe 45 mins but the rear on the Explorer is tied into the 4 wheel drive and we about have to take the entire thing apart. Ugh, I am not looking forward to this!

Anthropologie Sweater (consignment)
Joie Silk Blouse (Consignment)
Jeans (thrifted)
Salvatore Ferragamo Bag (thrifted)
Fergie Boots (Christmas gift)

Ooooh, I even managed to dressing matching fall colors!  Fairbanks has the prettiest fall, it doesn't last long but it's magnificent while it does.  All of the bushes turn shades of red and orange, the Birch and the Tamaracks turn yellow and with the dry grass, it ends up looking like a painting.  Of course by now the leaves have all blows off our trees but it's a nice prelude to winter.

On The Run

Forever21 Hat
Free People Jacket (consigment) Free People Dress (ebay)
Madewell Bag (consignment)
Seychelles Boots
Scarf (consigment)

I really loved this outfit, the mix of prints with the jacket and the dress really worked for me and even though I'm sad to put the sandals away for the next 9 mounths until the sun returns to us, it's fun to break the boots back out again. The Seychelles boots were the first boots that I really spent more than a tiny amount one and my feet thank me for it! I use to be a pretty die-hard Payless fan, what fool would spend more than $50 on ONE pair of shoes when I could get four or five pairs for less? As a result of not well fitting, haard shoes and 12 hours days on my feet my toes are not fetish worthy. (In fact, I'm pretty sure I could make a foot fetish person run in the other direction.) I've only kept one pair of those Payless shoes and for some reason, I tried to wear them the other day and wow, my feet were killing me after only five minuetes. I suddenly remebered why they's been banished and now they're on their way to the thrift store to bring the joy of painful shoes to someone else.

For as high of a heel as these boots have, they are crazy comfortable to wear all day. The pitch isn't so high that it makes me feel like I'm walking on tiptoes and they're wide enough in the box that my feet aren't crying for mercy. (And on another note, I found this crazy cute pair of Coach black leather loafers for really cheap at the consigment tore. Score, they were even in my size which never happens! And then I tried them on and couldn't even get my toes in, the loafers were SO narrow.) I've had these boots for a few years now and they're still in really nice shape, even after being a terriable shoe owner and wearing them in the rain, snow and slush and usually with thick wool socks. If that's not an endorsment, I don't know what is.
