Flood Control

Free People Sunglasses and Bag (ebay)
Winter Kate Silk Jacket (ebay)
Loft Top (thrifted)
Old Navy Shorts
Birks (consignment)

I took the kids out to the Chena Lake beach for a couple hours this day and later on we went for a walk up along the flood control.  This was built by the Army Core of Engineers after the flood of 1967, the Chena River flooded out Fairbanks after records amount of rain and all of downtown was under several feet of water.  A notable Alaskan, Sam White, reportedly hung a sign outside of his home at the time, "Fairbanks, still a great place to live." during the height of the flood.  He was a guide, trapper, game warden and mapped out a great bit of Alaska back during the beginning of the century, I would completely recommend reading his book, it's really a great read.

I bought these shorts back during an Old Navy sale because I wanted to have a pair of shorts that were easy to slid on after being at the beach. (Because wiggling into denim shorts when wet and sandy just isn't that much fun.)  I like how light weight they are but man, they wrinkle like a beast!

  1. Those shorts are so cute! And this place looks so pretty and peaceful.

  2. that bag is beyond amazing. lovelovelove!!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I always like hearing feeback! (It really makes my day!)
