Selling Out

Ellen Tracy Coat (gift from my mom)
J.Crew Cardigan (thrifted)
Equipment Blouse (second hand via ebay)
Old Navy Jeans
American Eagle Leather Belt
Seychelles Heels
Leather Handbag (no label-thrifted)
Carlo Orsini Silk Scarf (thrifted)

So, did anyone else know that they were actually making a movie version of Ender's Game?  I found out last night, was really freaked out because I hate my favorite books being turned into movies but Orson Scott Card had held out for so long, I thought "well, maybe it will be AWESOME."  Watched the trailer online and......

It is NOT awesome.

I have no words for the level of fangirl/cult-ish fanatic rage that I feel.  For crying out loud, Harrison Ford is Graff!  And Ben Kingsley as..... Mazer Rackham? (I don't even know what to say about that, it is just such a bizarre choice.)  Orson Scott Card, you loser.

I'm just going to go sulk in the corner for the rest of forever.

  3. Ah man, he held out for so long too, didn't he?
So sorry to hear its a letdown! I never got to finish that book, but one of my goals for summer is to start reading again (I was quite the lil bookworm before school got in the way). I'll have to add Ender's Game to my list!
Anyway, on a more upbeat note, your green jacket is truly lovely ^^ Haha, and your heels! Mauve pink is a fantastic color for shoes <3

  8. But at least you'll cute while sulking!

I took a class in college that was about books/stories adapted into movies. We talked a lot about how difficult it is to see a movie adapted from a book as a stand-alone entity. I mean, something can be a good movie but a HORRIBLE adaptation. But it's so hard to see it that way.

  9. I just saw someone repost on Facebook about making Ender's Game into a movie... yeah, the trailer looked pretty lame, and honestly I feel like that's one of those books you just shouldn't turn into a movie because it would be so difficult to capture.

    Sigh!

On the bright side, I really love everything about your outfit here, down to the heels and the pretty pale pink cardigan. You're just so lovely!

  14. I love the gradual shedding of layers to reveal even cooler clothing underneath. Your shirt is divine, dearie.

I agree with you about the movie. Some things are better left untouched.

and HOLY HELL, how did you go barefoot? It's reaching 70 here on some days and I still break out the sneakers for fear of shriveling up in the cold. You are a brave woman, my friend.

    love,

  16. I've never read Ender's Game, but Hollywood rarely gets it right with film adaptations. Loving that green trench coat :)

  17. that strong grass green shade looks fantastic next to your red hair. oh and it's cool how you've showed two different ways of wearing one scarf and all this in only one outfit. +it's a beautiful scarf!
I also like the combo of your cardi and shoes. great harmony between those pink shades. and your silver jewellery is once again truly gorgeous! I hope I didn't forget anything I also liked, hehe.

  18. It's those heels! I love how it matches your cardigan and how you green coat matches the green on your shirt. It all looks beautiful together:) And I actually haven't read ender's game but hope so soon! Sorry to hear that the movie seems to be bad though :/

  19. I'm laughing at how, to show all the different elements of your outfit, you've got to do a quasi-striptease. I do this too, shedding layer after layer until I have a pile of clothes beside me and some awkward stares from passers-by. My favourite part of this outfit is the great muted red colour of your cardigan.
