A cold day in hell

Jack B.B.Dakota Jacket
American Eagle Outfitters Lace Top and Hat
Skirt (no label - second hand)
Steve Madden Heels
Sears Necklace

Well, well, well, we meet again snow.  Can't say I'm too pleased.

So, I'm just going to ignore the obvious (like it snowing at the end of May) and apologize for the pictures.   I use to love overcast day for pictures, the lighting was fantastic and I couldn't figure out why I had so much trouble with the light tonight.  Well, duh Katie, snow is reflective and you were taking pictures in the winter!  Genius award, right here.  I kept trying to use the ISO to make the pictures brighter and I completely forgot about my shutter speed.  I've kept it on the same place since it's usually about the same for taking pictures in the snow and I just did not even think about it tonight.  Eventually I will get this picture thing figured out.

All of that aside, I really like this outfit.  I've been drawn toward longer skirts lately which is completely funny seeing as I was like the "short skirt chick" for most of the winter. (And I do like a short skirt but it's fun just to wear a longer skirt and not worry about flashing people, ya know?)

(Fairbanks isn't hell, I'm just displeased to have it snowing all day long and for it to be this cold when we usually have 80 plus degree weather right now.  I want my summer!)

  1. You look like a dream...really wonderful outfit and that hat! Love that skirt....Red looks so picaresque in contrast with the snow and brings reflections of Snowhite and so on. Snow in May must be tough, but at least photos are perfect.

  4. This is such a gorgeous dead of winter outfit! I love how the deep color of the skirt makes it very cold weather appropriate while the fabric is still nice and flowy. I love the girly lace top with the tough leather jacket too.

  5. Oooooh, taking a trip back to winter with this shoot, haha. But I love it! The rich red maxi skirt is soooo lovely *_* If you ever tire of the long hemlines and return to shorter skirts, just let me know - I'll gladly take this beauty off your hands ;)
Haha, and aw man, that sucks when you realize your mistake later, huh? Ah well, you learn as you go! I actually like the dark sort of vibe the lighting lent to these pictures. Mysterious and edgy in a way.

  7. Your title makes me giggle. I know the feeling of hatred when I expect it to be warm but the snow is raining down. I remember we had a snow storm in April of this year and I was cursing the sky. I'm done with snow.

on the plus side, you look amazing and like this outfit should be in a magazine. With zero snow. ;)

    love,

  8. Alaska has officially lost its mind!!! :D Maybe you could try bringing the brightness of the photos up, in photoshop. It's very hard taking photos when it's so dark. The skirt is fabulous!

  10. woah I can't believe it's snowing again! At first I thought that maybe these were pictures from winter that you forgot to post or something :p But I do like the mysterious look of these photos, the darkness of it kinda works! Love the skirt, the red color is beautiful and looks great with all the black:) (Awesome leather jacket by the way) And I completely agree, long skirts make me feel so much more free because I can do whatever I want without the fear of accidentally flashing people haha.

  11. Heehee, it's so true that you're a short skirt girl in winter and seem to be veering towards the longer skirts for spring. I adore this lace top. The sleeve length is perfect; a slightly longer 3/4 sleeve would be difficult to layer under other pieces. The fact that it hits right above the elbow looks quite elegant. You're convinced me that I shouldn't overlook stores that market to a younger crowd, like AE, because they really have some great gems.

  12. I actually think these photos look really cool this dark! You should just say that you did on purpose. It looks artsy ;) I LOVE this outfit. The deep red skirt with the lace top and leather jacket looks so mysterious, but romantic together. Plus, you pull off a hat like no other.

    And how is there snow?!

  13. Does it make you feel better if I tell you that your outfit makes you look super tall? I mean, I can't do anything about the snow (!!) but your outfit is killer.
