Hey guys.  This post was suppose to go up a few days ago but my dad's been in the hospital for the past few days.  (So this post is completely at odds with the pictures, sorry about that.)  He'd been having stomach pains for a couple of days and that morning his appendix ruptured.  Normally taking the appendix out isn't too big of a deal but his had erupted already and infection had set in so it ended up being a pretty bad case and we almost lost him.  He's doing much better now and he's at home taking it easy for a while.  We've been trying to help out with the animals so mom could stay with him at the hospital and then trying to help them at home so I really haven't been on the nets very much.   I'm just so thankful that he's okay, my dad's a pretty amazing guy and the thought of losing him was just very sobering. (Especially after losing our cousin last fall, everyone's been so nervous and freaked out about it.)  I can't even begin to think of not having him around, he's just such a wonderful person and is so loved by all of us.

I'll try to catch up with everyone but if I haven't gotten back to you yet, I'm so sorry.   I'm going to try to get in touch an say hi during the next few days.

I know, pony cuddles help make stuff better.

  8. Oh no, I hope your dad is okay! I'll be thinking of you and your family :)

As usual, I love everything about this. The print on this skirt is really gorgeous and I love that you paired it with stripes. My kind of print mixing!

  9. Oh no...I'm so sorry Katie. Its bizarre at the timing though, since my dad just had surgery and we've been worrying about him as well. Lately the thought of losing my dad has crossed my mind, and its terrifying. I NEED him in my life! Praying for your dad as well <3

Anyway, on a lighter note...this is a super pretty outfit by you. Its one of those looks where everything is so PERFECT together. That navy floral skirt, striped top are a trendy print combo; then the brown leather jacket and shoes match wonderfully!

  13. oh my gosh, that's really scary! :( I'm so glad your dad is doing better and I wish him all the strength and power he needs. and to you too, Katie. even when my parents' dog was in bad condition I felt like crap and just wanted to cry all the time. luckily she got better too. gosh I just hate it when things like that happen.
anyway, on a slightly brighter note I wanted to say my dog is a "he" ;) yeah, a boy, hehe. oh and I also wanted to say "aaaawwww" to that adorable black doggie too!
but now about your outfit! the layering is brilliant once again and the floral pattern is beautiful. I also love the stripes and your brown leather jacket. actually it's a gorgeous look overall :)
    take care, Katie!

  15. Oh gosh, Katie....I'm so glad to hear you dad survived a ruptured appendix. When I was a teenager...the same happened to me. Its a rough go for awhile, but so happy that your dad is resting and doing better.

I would love to be photo bombed by a horse, Katie.

  18. Katie, I'll keep your father in my thoughts; I wish him a full and speedy recovery. And very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend in another of your recent posts. It sounds like it's been a difficult few months but I hope those close to you draw close to get you through this. And dog cuddles also help ;)

This is rather random twice now I've been walking in my neighbourhood which is smack dab in the middle of downtown Ottawa, I've seen a man out walking his miniature pony (for exercise I presume) round and round this little patch of lawn in front of a pub. I've never seen him use his pony for commercial purposes and I can't imagine where he keeps him. Hopefully the pony is well-treated. The whole thing is just so peculiar!

  19. I had to come back to comment on your outfit, because, well, it's awesome. I'm a dork and got totally side-tracked writing the last comment! I love the navy print mixing, and the brown leather really warms up the look.
