You're no good for me

Marc by Marc Jacobs Blazer (gift from my mom)
Fred Meyer Scarf (Christmas gift)
American Eagle Outfitters Denim Shirt and Boots
Banana Republic Skirt (thrifted)
Chinese Laundry Tights
Fred Meyer Socks
American Eagle Outfitters Bracelets, F21 Spike Bracelet
Gold and Diamond Ring, Green Amethyst and Garnet Earrings

Alright, I'll admit it, I had the hardest time trying to decided which photos to post and which to leave in the deaths of the computer files, so this ended up being a evil, computer freezing, webpage crashing, photo heavy post.  I am so sorry.  (Well, sort of not.  It was a really cool trail to take pictures on.)

I'm not one of those people who can rock red lips.  I keep trying and I keep failing.  Red lipstick makes my lips look thin and cheeks look chubby. (Like really, how does that even happen?!)  I'm cool with the chubby cheeks since they still get me carded, but the thin lips, not cool.  So not cool.  I think I'm just going to throw away my red lipstick now.  It clearly doesn't love me and no matter how many times I go back to it, hoping it might work out this time because things will be different, I end up with regrets.  It's pink lips for me from now on.

  1. Okay, I'm trying, but I don't see the thin lips. Probably because I know what thin lips look like - I have those for sure, so I hate wearing bright lipsticks since that only emphasizes it. But you look good in the red shade in my opinion!
Anyway, lovely floral print button down - I've seen that shirt at American Eagle and am seriously regretting not picking it up. Aha, its so cute, especially the way you styled it!
And is that a spiked bracelet I see? I'm obsessed with anything spiked. My cousin made fun of me because while we were shopping the bazaars, I picked up everything that had a spike/stud attached to it lol.

    1. I know, I LOVE spikes and studs and I'm so happy that they're having a popular moment, I can finally find spike jewelery that doesn't come from Hot Topic! (And oh, I can't wait to see what you found down there!) Thank you so much, I never even realized that you don't wear bright lipstick, you're so pretty that you don't even need make up.

  2. Before I even read the post, I was planning to comment on how much I love the red lip you're rocking in this post. It really offsets the minty hue of your button-down. PLEASE rethink getting rid of your lipstick! I think you can pull it off. Your lips are fuller than mine and dark colours are one of my favourite ways to mix up my makeup routine.

    1. Oh Kat, you really are too sweet! I always thought that you do an amazing job pulling off the darker lips, it just seems very 'you.' (So maybe that's my problem, I'm just not a red lips gal.) Thank you though, that was just so sweet of you!

  4. perhaps you just haven't found the right shade of red for your skin tone?

but nothing wrong with pretty pink anyway, and you can always mix in a touch of the red!

  5. The red looks good on photos... So maybe it's more to do with how it makes you feel rather than look?... Or finding a difference shade of red?
The outfit is beautiful and I really like the skirt and blazer.

    1. I think you're right, I'm not very comfortable wearing red lipstick, I always feel like I do weird things with my lips when I wear it. (Or maybe it just shows off the weird faces I make even more.) And thank you, I love this skirt and blazer together. :)

I think your red lips look lovely and that's a fact. it's also a fact that I love this outfit. what a great blazer, what a beautiful floral shirt, lovely flowy skirt and yeah, everything else too! and the background! gosh, how amazing, once again. your beautiful outfit photos also reminded me that I should start working on my own to prepare a new post.

  13. I really like the red lip with your outfit! That being said, I understand your struggles with wearing red lips - I don't feel comfortable in red, either. I've tried it a few times and it just doesn't look like me.
I love a good buttondown! Yours is so pretty - the ice blue of the print looks lovely against your backdrop. And as usual, love your jewelry - you mix trendy and classic items effortlessly. :)

    1. I think that's part of it, I just feel so un-natural and uncomfortable with bright red lipstick. (I think it would look amazing on you, you can pull of any color.) And thank you, I really love fine jewelry and beautiful goldsmith work but costume jewelry can be so much fun!

  14. I think the red looks amazing on you! If you want to add more volume, just put a bit of gloss on top, and it should make it look a bit plumper without being Jolie-esque. I also really love that ring! Glad to hear you're giving LOTR another shot!

    1. Oh! That is a really good idea, I'll have to try that, it might work a little better than just lipstick. Although, I would take the Jolie lips. ;)

    1. Jezz, you all are making me feel silly about my red lipstick aversion. :) You're way too sweet! I don't have very many photos of our weddings, we didn't hire a photographer and just a few pictures that my dad and some friends took. They're all film ones, so I have none saved to the computer. I do have the dress still hanging up, I'll have to take a photo of it sometime. Thank you so much Sam!)
