Wind in the Woods

Betsey Johnson Coat (gift from mom)
Gap Leather Jacket (thrifted)
Charter Club Cashmere Sweater (thrifted)
Silance + Noise Silk Dress (thrifted)
Icing Tights
Madden Girl Boots via Famous Footwear
Fred Meyer Necklace
Silver Ring

I'm trying to amp up the quality of the pictures that I take but I failed today.  It's fairly warm but that darn wind kicked back up again and I just have no tolerance when it comes to that windchill.  Brrrr, it gets me every time!    I kept trying to find the focus with the camera and by the time I'd have it zeroed in, my fingers and my face were freezing.  (My face felt like a slab of ice but aside from my fingers, I wasn't really cold anywhere else.  Weirdness.)

I love this outfit except for the light pink sweater, I think it's just a little bit too cutesy for the overall look and it looks a bit washed out in pictures. I'll have to try some more tops, this dress is just too pretty not to wear but it's open back makes it a little too chilly to wear by itself. (Especially with that wind!)  I also need to belt this coat, while I love loosey-goosey clothes it doesn't quite work here, belting would have given it a little more shape and shown off the cute hemline in the back.  I guess that's one of the great things about taking pictures of your outfit, you're able to go back and analyze why something didn't work or what can improve a look.

  5. I think the photos look great, the jacket is awesome ^_^
I've recently discovered that my camera hates the cold, and just wouldn't focus anything if it's windy or freezing outside. Maybe you have the same pretentious camera :D

  6. I would definitely like to see the whole dress some day when it's warm enough. seems to be such a great piece. I also love those booties and your leather jacket. oh and that coat is great too! and those tights, again. I just always love your crazy patterned tights!
btw, when it comes to outfit shots I'm struggling with my outfit photos a lot right now because it was dark and the photos are dark too and I'm a crazy perfectionist when it comes to my photos. don't know how I'll be able to manage the whole thing but I'm going to try at least.

  9. I always like your cute blog post titles, they remind me of names of books or songs. I to would really like to see the dress in its entirely, it looks so pretty just from the skirt side. Crazy over those adorable printed tights...I thinks its great that you're playing with different proportions and sometimes looser fits are just as chic. P.S Thanks for taking the time to stop by....have a wonderful weekend. ♥

  11. I would have guessed that sweater was a cream color, not a light pink. I love your thrifted leather jacket. The cut of it is so unique!

  14. The outfit is splendid, especially with those tights! I really like that you had the thrifted leather jacket, and those booties are amazing! I like the pink sweater, but I agree, maybe next time a neon yellow or something brighter like that would enhance the outfit. I can't wait to see the dress in the summer time, it sounds like it's one of a kind. Sorry about your freezing face, like you, only one of my hands gets colder than the other, so I can only imagine how much effort it takes to get everything set up, you go girl!

  17. I love your thrifted jacket and boots (lace-up AND buckles? awesome). They're great transitional pieces; I could see you wearing them year-round. They contrast really nicely with your floaty skirt.
