Yikes, I had this typed up and tada, deleted it.  Smooth Katie, smooth.

We've had a huge warm up in the weather the past two days, it's back up from -45 below to a
tropical feeling 10 above today.  It felt so wonderful, that last burst of cold weather left me thinking hateful things about the snow and wishing for winter to come to an end.  (Yeah, that's not going to happen, we've got three months at least left.  Bummer.)

I've always wanted to try thigh high socks and since I figure I've got a very, very small window left to wear them before I'm too old for that party, I gave them a try today.  I can never find tall socks that fit me so I cut up a pair of leggings, while they're sort of cute, the silly things kept falling down.   I think that might be it for me with those but it was fun to give it a try and wear something different for a change.

  1. I give you tons of credit for wearing those thigh high socks in frigid temps! Your coat is really pretty and I LOVE your hair! Heather

  2. i would be a cube of ice. you were brave. :d i can't wait for spring to wear this kind of socks.

  3. Bare legs! I was wondering if you guys got a "heat wave" like we did. This weather is crazy.

  4. I think I love everything about this outfit - the black and white pattern mix, your hair, the green thigh highs. Yay for trying out the thigh highs! I have a similar hankering for knee socks, and will try them out soon, although I think I might come to the same conclusion. :)

  5. I really LOVE the print on that dress! :) And the green thigh his are adorable! You probably already know this about me, but I just can't stop wearing socks and short skirts. Even in the winter. Dry skin be damned! :)

Also, GULLIVER's! I miss that tiny bookshop! I used to go there a lot and just look and look and look forever. Do you have a Goodreads account? I keep a record of the books I read in there. I'm pretty much a Classics or Comics kind of gal. I love dead male English writers, preferably from Milton going back. And I read just about anything X-men related. :) Every once in a while, I venture out of my comfort zone and immerse myself in non-fiction or historical fiction. :) What about you?

    1. Gullivers is the best! I don't have a Goodreads account since I'm lazy but it seems like such a good idea, I'll get halfway through a book before I realize that I've read it already. I enjoy mysteries but girl, no way on the x-men! (I laughed so hard, that is totally my nerd obsession! I love them, it's the only comic series that I constantly keep up on, other series I'll jump in on if it's a writer or artist that I love.) Those dead Englishmen are pretty awesome but I lean towards the Russian writers, I love Tolstoy and Chekhov. (T.S. Elliot is probably my all time favorite though.)

  6. I'm so amazed you ventured out in the snow in knee highs! so worth these pics though - totally cute!

  7. wonderful patterns, Katie. that dress and the scarf look so great together. and those thigh highs are pretty cute and add some nice colour to your black & white ensemble. oh and what a lovely hair style, I love braids! gosh and I still can't believe you find Ferragamo and Kors goodies from your thrift stores. that's awesome!

  8. I love it, I love it, I love it! It may have something to do with those teal-ish knee socks, but whatever. Haha, the mint jacket is a nice complimentary color too :)
Ah man, I've done that before. Had a post all nicely typed up and then poof, accidentally hit something that screwed stuff up. Ugh.

  9. your outfit does match the background. i like it. your hair is so cute too. i was always too old for the party, meaning even as a teen i couldn't have pulled off the knee sock look. i think my window was until age 7.

  10. I know when I write that its 20° where I am, all the people in FL say things like "it was 60 the other day and I was loving the cold weather!"

So now I'm going to be one of those people and say -45? How do you not die the second you step outside? I'm thankful that I consider 55 to be balmy, and not 10.

And that mint coat!! I want it, I need it! My mint obsession knows no bounds!

  11. I think the thigh-highs work really well and show off your legs beautifully. So to hear they kept falling down...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I always like hearing feeback! (It really makes my day!)
