Hmm.  It snowed.

That's about it from me today.  It's one of those days where I really have nothing to say and unless you want some vague, creepy stream of contentiousness stuff, I'm about done.

Well, I guess I do have one thing to say, I really should have tucked the straps on the dress in, thin spaghetti straps don't seem to work visually over a button up.  I have wide shoulders as it is and now they look like Olympic Swimmer shoulders. (Which would be awesome, but even after years of teaching swimming lessons, I still have a very sad Dolphin stroke.  It's more of a drowning-monkey-wrestling-to-the-death-with-a-rabid-cat stroke.  A thing of grace and beauty it is not.)

  1. I love the contrast of your white dress over the dark button up. I actually really like the thin straps, and don't think you have "olympic" shoulders at all! :) Always so pretty against the white snow!

  2. Its about a warm 26 degrees Celsius here today but all I can say is that I am sooo jealous of the snow! lol, it looks so beautiful, wish i could dive right in. I like the very intriguing combination of the military parka with the romantic dress, you're really great with the blend and balance of feminine/masculine pieces.

  4. I love to see how you layer for winter as I'm stuck here in California and don't have that opportunity. I admire the addition of a summer dress - so pretty! I assume you are already familiar with my other favorite Northern dresser, the Freelancer's Fashionblog?

I'm feeling a strong need for a vacation in the mountains so I can dress like you two.

  6. It would never occur to me to wear a dress like that over a button-down. That is a great way to transition your summer pieces to winter, though!

  8. oh katie, looking like a snow bunny in the hat! i like the mix of the lace with the other elements in the outfit. i don't do spaghetti straps, nor strapless. you look adorable! what's a dolphin stroke? which shows how clueless i am, given that i even swam with the dolphins in mexico. below's a link, if you want to take a peek at my old post.

  10. katie, these pictures are so beautiful. I love the white dress with the touch of lace against the snow. The black tights are perfect with this outfit too. I don't know how you always manage to pull these wonderful earthy outfits together, but you do.

  11. Now I want to get my plaid buttondown and try layering it under every dress I own - you pulled this off so beautifully, and I don't think the straps look bad. To me, it creates this nice visual line from the white hat, down the straps, to the dress. :)
Beautiful aquamarine bracelet, too! That's one of my favorite stones.

  12. Hahaha, wide shoulders are sexy! :P
I love how you combined this feminine dress with the shirt and jacket. Looks kind of retro!
It snowed here too, I'm gonna make a snowman, or freeze to death, we'll see :D
