Ugh, I'm pooped tonight.  I took  pictures before the sun had risen this morning, we were setting the beams for the barn's roof up today and I wouldn't have had a chance or looked anywhere near presentable later on.  (I didn't wear these boots for long, pretty much just around a little this morning and then on the car ride, I changed to my Boggs when we got to work.)   I'm pretty much useless when it comes to setting beams since I'm so flipping short that I just can't get the beams lifted high enough.  The logs we're using are so heavy and dense that I can only get most of them to my shoulders and then that's it, so I was on the tail end of most of them.  We're almost ready to finish up the hay loft on the barn and Merrylegs the pony can't wait, even with the chainsaws going he kept trying to sneak in and see what all of the fuss was about.  He's just not afraid of anything and Dollar the big horse is such a chicken that he hid in the far corner of the corral.  (He gets scared of everything and tried to hide on top of the pony, it's so funny since the pony is small enough to stand under him.)

Can we talk about the serious nerdy coolness of Jim Lee being on Face Off last night?  Face Off is one of the few reality shows I like to watch, it is so fascinating to watch the process of movie makeup and the creative thought behind it.  Even though it was a sub-par night for makeup and creating the comic book heroes it was insanely cool to see Jim Lee featured, I hope the artists that got to work with him kept his sketches!

  2. Those boots and hanging beams. I am still in awe of you. And BTW, I have been having such a hard time the past few days because it's been around 11 degrees and not really over 20. I don't know how you do it!

  6. THOSE BOOTS! And Ok, so I have no idea what Face Off is, (Isn't it that movie with Nicolas Cage and John Travolta?) but your mention of Jim Lee caught my attention. We are talking about THE Jim Lee, right? As in Wild C.A.T.S, Jim Lee? MUST LOOK FOR IT NOW.

    1. Yes, THE Jim Lee!
Face Off is on SiFy Channel, it's sort of a Top Chef style show but for movie makeup artists. (Not pretty girl makeup, but like horror movie prosthetic, creating fantasy characters, cool stuff like that, it's so much fun to watch!) You seriously have to watch, I think you would really like it, they almost always have on total nerd-worthy guests.

  7. Hi Katie, thanks so much for your insightful comments, I love reading them! I live in a farming area and I have no idea about beams and barns...but it all sounds pretty cool! The horses have their own cute reality show going on :) Those boots are fabulous, its great seeing you in heels. Loves the tassel necklace and printed scarf. (Also no idea what Face Off is...off to google)

    1. Hah, I think the ponies totally need their own show, they're such characters and they get into so much trouble. And thank you, I guess I really haven't worn any heels these past few months!

    1. I think this is the first time I've worn high heels in more than a few months, I've just been wearing boots all fall and winter and most of my boots are flat or have very low heels. Thank you, you're too sweet!

  10. Those boots are a great thrifting find! I think I'd fall flat on my face in them, especially if I tried to wear them in snow/ ice. I love the long cardi with the elbow patches:)

    1. These boots are surprisingly easy to walk in, I think I fall on my face more in my flat boots than I did in these! ;)

  12. oh my, those boots are amazing! I'm such a sucker for killer heels when I see them in stores, blogs, catalogues etc. but when I have to wear them I usually avoid it because you know, flats are so much more comfortable. though I kind of promised myself to wear more heels this year.. we'll see. yeah, I just love those boots and I also love the bag you're wearing and I would SO love to own both of those, hehe. btw, after you sent me some thrifting luck it has been amazing, I mean me and thrifting. today I got like almost 20 new pieces through a family friend who deals with that stuff (i.e. used clothes). though I would have loved it when I found that bag, hehe.

  13. Okay, I'm glad you said you didn't wear these boots for long because I was about to be seriously confused and impressed. Mostly impressed. I've also decide that you have the best accessories. I love all of them here!

  14. First off: THOSE BOOTS. Dang girl, FIERCE!
Secondly: I love the name of your horses - Merrylegs? I want to name my next pet that now.
Thirdly: Totally picturing the contrast between a tiny, brave pony and the huge, cowering horse xD Haha, thanks for the laugh!

  15. Gorgeous! You should be strolling through an airport in those boots and that bag, not only your way to build a roof lol! Seriously though, the boots are fierce and every little detail about that bag is fantastic - from the contrasting piping to the curved shape.

  16. Those boots are great, but I can see how they wouldn't have been very practical later on inthe day! It looks like it's freezing where you are but you look warm with all your layers!

  17. katie, you show such a variety of style, that i really enjoy seeing. you sure can wear a hat. looking darling as usual. i feel completely out of the loop because i have no idea who jim whatever or face off is. i would be tired too if i had to do all that physical work.
