My biggest goal for the blog this year is to improve my photography.  Thanks to ladies such as Lauren of Someone Like you,  Lauren of Introvert's Introduction (a fellow Alaska girl, high five!) and of course numerous other women who have amazing photography featured on their blog, I really want to push myself now that I've sort of got my camera figured out.  I really love the style aspect but photography has turned into such a love for me.  I've got a really long ways to go and a lot to learn but it's encouraging to see how far I've come since I started this blog.  I do want to say thank you to Keit and Joyce, you two have been so kind and sweet with answering my questions and you've helped me so much!

I keep trying to push myself to wear bright colors this winter and I keep reverting back to neutrals like these.  I'm going to have to get over it and wear a bright pink and lime green jumpsuit, that should get me on board with the colors. (Or burn my retinas out.)

  8. talking about colours, just yesterday I noticed how I was wearing neutrals and I even kind of felt guilty about it because I love colours and colours make me happy and look lovely on photos as well.
though I love your outfit anyway, colours or neutrals, it doesn't even matter. it's such a beautiful dress and also that jacket. and of course the hat. those three make a wonderful trio!

  12. Hi Katie, I think thats what blogging should be about, finding a connection with something youre passionate about and fine tuning it, like photography, your photos are impressive! I don't think neutrals are playing it safe, I actually think its something far more difficult to wear (for me at least) than colour, and you do so with grace. Love the dress!

  13. Ahhh! The black and blush of this outfit is so pretty! Again, with the romantic look that you wear so well.

Turns out my husband actually is learning about ISO and F-stop and white balance and such in his photography class. If it hadn't been so freaking cold on our roof when he took my pictures this week I bet he would have been up for playing around with it even more.

  15. That dress is gorgeous!! And as far as photography goes - I'm getting my first DSLR camera tomorrow, so I have yet to figure it out and then improve on my photography. A looooong road ahead of me.:) But I honestly like these photos, they portray a hint of mystery, I think... I don't know, maybe it's just me...

  22. I love the choice of tights with this outfit. It really pulls everything together, with the horizontal bands echoing the ones on your dress and the texture playing off the one in your jacket. Such a cohesive look - this is one of my faves!
