Creamer's Field in the Snow

Hat: American Eagle Outfitters
Coat: Old Navy
Scarf: Old Navy
Sweater: Gorge Cashmere (thrifted)
Dress: Pacsun
Boots: Dv by Dolce Vita
Handbag: Koret (thrifted)

I took these pictures yesterday, today was log peeling day.  My right arm is about to fall off right now from using the draw knife all day but we got the rest of the logs peeled for the barn.  Sunday my little brothers are coming over to help Dad, Mom, Evan and I put the roof and beams up and  then Dollar the horse will have a new home! (Pretty excited about him coming to stay at mom and dad's since he might be bring a little buddy, Ruckus the pony,  home with him.  Izzy and Gunnar are so excited about the pony, he's the little guy I ended up riding on a trail ride a while back, he's a pretty darn cute little guy with a total pony personality.)

Anyways, I can hardly pick my arms up to type, so that's it for me tonight.

Oh right.  I took these over by Creamer's Field, across the field from the old dairy.  It's pretty cool area that gets a ton of migratory birds every year and has a lot of history for Fairbanks.  I'll have type up a post that elaborate more on it, it's quite a gorgeous area.

  3. Oh my goodness, I have never even heard of 'log peeling' before. What different lives we lead. I cannot believe how snowy it is already. You look amazing, I don't think I'd be able to leave the house with anything less than a sleeping bag in those conditions.

    1. The cold isn't too bad, we complain about it quite a bit but you do get use to it! :) We're building a log barn but we ended up needing to peel 900 sq feet of logs for it. At least it's going to be adorable. ^_^ And thanks, it's always funny to see how different all of our lives are, I think that's one of the thing I love about blogging so much, it's nice to get outside of your own bubble and see other people's lives.

    1. Hah, come February, I'm sure you'll be going "Thank goodness I don't live there anymore!" but yes, I love Fairbanks during the begging of winter, it's so gorgeous everywhere. We have a big horse named Dollar and we're right in the middle of buying a little pony as a buddy for him and for the kids to have a pony to ride.

  18. katie, i feel kind of ignorant because i have no idea what log peeling is. the only think i know about barns and stuff is from what i learned from reading the little house on the prairie books. i know that's not much. anyway, i just kept thinking when i was looking at your photos is how pretty you are. i bet you weren't even wearing make-up either. were you?

    1. We're building a log barn but most of the logs need the bark peeled off of them before we can put them up and then stain and seal them. We have to use this long blade with a handle on each end, sit on the logs and then peel the logs. It's quite a work out, but the logs look gorgeous afterwards. :) (I loved the Little House on the Prairie books, the first was always my favorite.)
You are way too sweet, I definitely have makeup on! (Otherwise I look like I've just woken up and that's not pretty.)

You hat is the bomb too, I mean how long do I have to keep waiting/looking/anticipating you just to send me the hat?!?! Lol, we now have snow like yours out there in Alaska. Sigh.

    1. Ponies are awesome, they're have really big personalities and are always getting into trouble. We use to have one pony who's favorite game was to take sticks bigger than him and run around and hit all of the bigger horses with it. (Goats and ponies are even better, we had a goat once that use to climb on top of the ponies and ride them around the yard. Most awesome thing ever.)
