Chewy, delicious carbs are my downfall

Vest: Jack by BB Dakota (thrifted)
Hat: Old Navy
Scarf: American Eagle Outfitters
Sweater: Old Navy
Skirt: BCBGeneration (thrifted)
Tights: Fred Meyer
Boots: Fred Meyer

Just a quick post tonight, I'm in the middle of baking pies.  Actually, I'm in the middle of eating all of the rolls the husband baked earlier while I watch the pies bake.  If only they weren't such delicious rolls, they would have a chance of making it to Thanksgiving dinner.

I was trying to recreate a look that I saw on Pintrest a while back, but it really didn't come together like I thought it would.  I really need to pay more attention when I take photos, this is the second day that my belt has been wonky. (The shame of it all.) Edited to say: The more I look at these pictures the more I end up not quite happy with this outfit.  I'm not sure if it's the hat that looks like something a Real Housewife of Somewheresville would wear to the Kentucky Derby or the vest or what, but it's just not working for me.  I'll have to go back and see if I can rework this outfit so that it doesn't have such an off vibe about it.  Any thoughts on what could make this work a little better?

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my fellow Americans and Happy Thursday to everyone else! (Thursday's a good day right?  It gets points for being almost Friday.)

    1. It takes a lot of time and going back to cheap, but thrift stores can be really awesome. I use to think I couldn't find anything decent at them but once you start going about once a week and just seeing what's in stock, you can find really amazing things.

  5. I must say I like that outfit, especially the layering and your vest. I would love to own a vest like that. gosh and it's so unusual to see all that snow when we have nothing.. it's not that I'm missing the snow but it looks cool in photos!

    1. I know what you mean but it's the other way around for me, it's crazy seeing all of the places that don't have snow and there's green grass still! And thank you, I love furry vests, second hand stores seem to be a great place to find them. I think most people think of them as a "trendy" item and get rids of theirs as soon as the season is over.

  9. I find this outfit stunning! I love seeing people's pinterest inspiration; I would love to see the original shot too. I have to say I prefer without the scarf because the necklace really make this outfit shine. Maybe it's the idea that large polka dots and fur together veer a little costumey on an otherwise elegant silhouette? I do like the shape and bulk around the neck that the scarf adds though, so I'd say it's just the print I'm not digging as much. I don't mind that the belt is wonky; it's kind of carefree!

    1. Kat, you always give the best feedback! I think you're quite right about the polka dotted scarf with the hat and the furry vest, it just doesn't work. Thanks for breaking it down and taking the time to think it out, you really do give the best advice!

    1. thank you, the vest is one of my favorite winter/fall garments, it's so great for adding a little bit of warmth to an outfit. :)

  11. Hmmm, maybe some patterned tights to break up all the solids? Not sure. Or maybe it's because you have your hair tucked up into the hat? Regardless, I think all the pieces here are winners and you wear them well no matter what you think :-)

    1. Hah, I was trying to be so good and not wear patterned tights for a change! Maybe that's my problem, I'm lost without them. Thank you Erin, you're such a sweetheart. :)

    1. Aggh, I'm so sorry, I did forget to list them! The wood necklace is old from Fred Meyers (they have so fun costume jewelry every now and then and it's always super cheap.) and them my other necklace is aquamarine beads from a vendor at our state fair. have a love/hate affair with this hat, sometimes it works out and sometimes it just feels too costumey, I just have to figure out how to style it. Thank you Teddi! :)
