Another dress that I rarely wear on the blog but all of the time in real life.  It's one of those dresses that looks a bit blah on the hanger and not too terribly exciting on it's own but is a great foundation piece for layering.  Normally I wear my green Carhartt button up over it but the chilly weather today called for something a bit warmer.  I even worked in a littler bit of print mixing, from the scarf and the dress to the patterned tights. (Which unlike my last pair of patterned tights, are not itchy.)

I'm not going to be around for a few days.  My little cousin who's been battling brain cancer passed away this morning.  Everyone's really torn up and heartbroken.  We knew this day was coming ever since the doctors sent her home after the stroke that left her partially paralyzed but it's still hard to process that she's gone.  I feel so horrible for my aunt, uncle and their family.  I wish I was an eloquent writer who could put words to how sweet she was and how much we'll all missed her and the hole this will leave in all of our lives.  But all I can say is that she's going to be missed very deeply.

  12. Katie, I'm so so sorry for your loss. It was clear that she was beloved by all those around her but that doesn't make the pain of losing someone who's just a child any easier.

When I saw these photos the two words which popped to mind were moody and contemplative, which is fitting I suppose. There's a bit of a boho chic vibe to this outfit which I love. The layering is fantastic.
