Whooo, it's breezy!

Shirt: Express (thrifted)
Belt: ? (Husband's at one time.)
Shorts: Old Navy
Shoes: Madden Girl (Famous Footwear)
Scarf: ?
Handbag: Coach (Consigment shop, Designers Closet)

Well, it was nice and warm this morning, but by picture time, we were having a full on wind storm. (At least it didn't snow....)  I kept having to stop and retuck my shirt and by end of the quick shoot, my hair part had been blown over to the other side!

I love a loose silk blouse to pair with shorts, it's such an easy look and ahhhhh, silk feels so nice! (And thrifted silk blouses feel even better, although that could be the thrifty part of me speaking.)

Outfit for Under $30 - Military Jacket

Jacket: Sears $5.99
Dress: Old Navy $14.49
Belt: Sears $2.99
Shoes: Steve Madden (Thrifted) $1.99
Clutch: Thrifted $3.50
Bracelet: Gottschalks $0.50

Total: $29.46

This jacket is one of my very favorite garments, it's made a few appearances so far on the blog, but it works with everything in my closet!   And I might have a slight obsession with military-ish jackets.  Might.

I finally get to show of one of the only two pairs of shoes I've ever been able to thrift!  Steve Madden is one shoe brand that I really like, the shoes are always crazy comfy and they last and last, so I still remember how excited I was when I picked these up in the shoe bin at the thrift store.

I've noticed that I've started wearing very little jewelry lately.  I use to be the girl who had earrings, necklace, bracelets and rings galore on (mentally I have old-lady-pile-the-jewelry-on-syndrome) but as of late, I wear maybe a bracelet and a ring, or just a necklace.  It is quite weird, I really don't know how or why that started happening. Hmm.

Challenge: High-Low Hem

Jacket: Missono (Thrifted)
Dress: ?
Shoes: R2 (Famous Footwear)
Clutch: Urban vibe

The high-low hemline trend has been one that has made me really nervous.  Not necessarily because of it being a hard trend to wear, but because when I buy clothes, I want to be able to wear them for a long time and not look dated after a year or two.  All of the high-low hem dresses/skirts I've found in town so far I've worried about them looking too trendy and looking dated, but this dress worked for me! It's a good floaty dress and it pairs well with blazers and other jackets, I think it will do. (It is a strapless however, I think I may have to make some alterations to that, strapless dresses and small children lead to wardrobe malfunctions!)

My little sister got in on the photo shoot today! (Well, not so little, she's way taller than me! But then all of my little siblings are way taller than me, I'm the runt in the family.)
It was really fun, she's so much better than me when it comes to makeup, she introduced me to this fantastic mascara today that I will have to track down. (When it comes to makeup, I really am clueless.)  She's such a sweet girl and is crazy good at thrifting, we always find good stuff when we go together! (She has a really good eye, I have a beautiful skirt that she found for me, I will have to wear it soon.)

Dress: Thrifted

Just a simple girl

Vest: ? (thrifted)
Shirt: Dolled Up (Fred Meyer)
Cami: GW
Jeans: Old Navy
Shoes: Fanco Santo (Famous Footwear)
Earrings: Handmade (By moi!)
shades: claires
Handbag: Coach (Consignment Shop- Designers Closet)

Sort of took a long break there, but it was sort of a crazy week.

This is a pretty casual outfit, just jeans, sandals and a easy shirt, but the vest adds just enough interest to keep it from being a total snooze fest.   Heh, you can see where I burnt myself!  After telling everyone to watch out for the hot pans, I act like a total genius by brushing up on one of them and tada!

At least I did try to put some makeup on today, I've been wearing a really pretty coral-pinkish lipstick I found, from the Wet-n-Wild brand no less! (Almost the perfect lipstick, goes on nice, stays for a while, good color and super cheap, I think it was $1.99.)    I love the look of red lipstick, but it always looks harsh on me and I personally really like berry shades and pinks.

Koolaid for feet

Hat: Old Navy
Tee shirt: Old Navy
Skirt: UK Style by French Connection
Shoes: Madden Girl by Steve Madden (Famous Footwear)
Shades: Claires
Handbag: Coach (Consignment Shop-Designers Closet Boutique)

Blah, I've been trying to beat this bug all week and today it finally caught up with me this morning. I went on my run and when I got back to the house I felt ready to keel over.   Hopefully Ill be able to kick this soon.

The best feature about this skirt?  Not that it's an awesome maxi or even that it has stripes. No, it has a slit!  I love long skirts with slits up the side, it feels so feminine and is so much fun to walk in.   It's a great skirt that works with everything, I was just lazy and went monotone today, with a slash of color for the feet.  (I guess this is my version of sweat pants, this skirt is so soft and comfy.)

Some lace and bad lighting

Shirt: Carhart
Dress: Kohls
Shoes: Franco Sarto
Jewelry: Assorted
Handbag: Coach (Consignment shop- Designers Closet Boutique)

The lighting was awful today, it kept flickering between super overcast and rays of sunshine peeking through.

I've discovered a great great little consignment shop in our little town, Designers closet Boutique.  The last time I went in I found my perfect handbag, my brown Willis Coach bag.  I went in a few days ago to find a present for my grandmother and I was blown away by the amount and quality of the handbags they had in.  Tons of Coach, Burberry, D&B and Gucci(real ones, I inspected thoroughly!) and while some of the purses were a little out of my price range, I found quite a few beautiful leather Coach bags for crazy low prices.   I saw this one the moment I walked in and even after looking through all of the other handbags, this stayed my favorite.  It's simple, NOT monogrammed, gently broke in and such a soft color and was SO cheap. (Like, cheaper than a few pairs of tights cheap.)  So while I was a good girl and found a special present for my grandmother's 85th B-day, this pretty little bag came home too.

My photo session captured the rare super-serious-ninja-with-a-stick.  He's taken to tucking his swords in the back of his shirt now that he's discovered Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Shirt: Carhart (thrifted)
Dress: UK Style by French Connection (Sears)
Tights: Joe Boxer
Boots: Madden Girl (Famous Footwear)
Handbag: Bueno
Watch: AE
Necklace and charms: Assorted
Bracelet: ? (Thrifted)

These boots have single handily changed my style and how I look at everything in my closet.  I found them in the clearance rack at Famous Footwear and I stared at them for the longest time before finally deciding to give them a try.

Some background: I've been a tomboy most of my life.  It's just the past few years that I've started wearing skirts and dresses more on a regular basis, but I have always had such a love/hate relationship with motorcycle boots.  I love them and the look they give, but I have short, stumpy legs and well, it just doesn't work.  So I've waited out the boots, wishing for the perfect pair to come along.

They finally came along.  I tried these boots on and was in love.

I tried them with most of my closet on last night and am so excited about the change they bring and they feel so true to my inner self and my personal  style and they will work all year round. I wished I had gotten a better shot, but I have a feeling that these boys will be showing up a lot more!

In other news, I think I shrank my dress in the wash.  I was pretty sure it came close to my knees last time I wore it and now, well, heh.  It is now a dark tights only kinda dress!   I thought throwing my big carhart shirt over it toned down the shortness of it though.

So, what style item changed your life?  Shoes, a dress, a piece of jewelry?  I'm curious to know!

PS- sorry about all of the photos! I was having a bit too much fun in my new boots!
